We were consumed last week watching the World Cup, as I am sure many Americans were. Since becoming a soccer mom I have learned to like the sport (I'm not very coordinated kicking and running at the same time and never took up the sport as a child), and this household stopped when the U.S. played.
That is, except for the standard every two hour refrigerator raid and me finally completing this:
Needles: Sz 7 circs
Yarn: Marr Haven , appx 3/4 of a skein
(Yes!!!! A finished knit!!)
I'm a week shy of completing this for a friend's Birthday. The recipient is a special lady, currently fighting cervical cancer, and who will win it, dammit. I met her through my sister in law many years ago, but I grew to know her better this last year. She is a knitter herself and I hope she likes this. Since I am sure she has received a great many hats this last year, I thought a cowl would be something she could enjoy.
Okay, so it looks funny over a short sleeve shirt...but imagine this cowl tucked slightly under a pea coat or trench, this fall and winter. Yes? I think it will be just right, and definitely a no fuss solution to a cold neck.
I picked this mauve color for her because she is such a bright spot - incredibly realistic, optimistic, sarcastic and funny. Reading her blog gives me great perspective in my own personal struggles.
Hope you like it Steph!
And here's to meeting our own personal goals, small or extensive, for today or for years down the road.
